Head of the International Cooperation Department of JINR D.V.Kamanin visited Botswana at the invitation of the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) on December 13-15, 2015.

The agenda of the visit included a seminar "Joint Institute for Nuclear Research: a platform for international cooperation", a meeting with Vice Chancellor of the University Professor John Cooke, and a round table on possibilities of practical organization of cooperation. On the results of the visit a memorandum was signed.

During the visit, possibilities of cooperation with JINR on establishment of an experimental laboratory in BIUST were discussed, as well as formulation of conditions for participation of BIUST students and postgraduates in JINR research projects and academic exchange. Special attention was attended to applied work related to needs of industrial and innovative development of Botswana.

It is expected that representatives of BIUST will visit JINR for a detailed study of possibilities of cooperation with JINR, including in partnership with the JINR Member States, will be held at the beginning of 2016.
