Forum “Open innovations” in Moscow

On October 28, 2015, a JINR delegation consisting of JINR Deputy Director G.V.Trubnikov, Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V.Kamanin, Director of the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics JINR V.D.Kekelidze and VBLHEP Deputy Director A.S.Sorin participated in the Forum “Open innovations” in Moscow. In the frames of the Forum, a Round Table "The research infrastructure of the BRICS countries" was held, attended by Minister of Education and Science of Russia, Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research D.V.Livanov. Participants of the Round Table were also Minister of Science and Technology of South Africa Naledi Pandor, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China Сao Jianlin, Head of the International Affairs Office of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil, Ambassador Carlos Henrique Cardim, Director of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" M.V.Kovalchuk, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation A.A.Fursenko.

In his speech, Professor Cao Jianlin mentioned his visit to JINR on October 25-26, 2015 in the frames of the meeting of the Russian-Chinese Sub-Commission in the fields of scientific and technical cooperation, as well as in the context of development of scientific relations of the BRICS countries and their cojoint research infrastructure; Cao Jianlin expressed his opinion about the necessity of special support of international intergovernmental research organizations and their special role in development of mega-facilities of the world-class.

G.V.Trubnikov took the part of the Chairman of the Round Table as the Head of the working group on scientific research infrastructure of the BRICS countries and one of the leaders of the international mega-science project of the heavy-ion collider NICA in which scientists of these countries show interest to participate in. In his speech he explained the essence of the initiative of GRAIN (Global Research Advanced Infrastructure Network) for the BRICS countries, which was proposed by the working group with participation of experts from JINR. Assistant to the RF President of A.A.Fursenko summarized the milestones of the Round Table and strongly supported the initiatives of the BRICS countries on coordination of development of large research facilities and their integration with the European Strategic Scientific Forum (ESFRI) and other international scientific networking platforms.
