Workshop in Port Elizabeth

A workshop on expansion of contacts with JINR, organized by Director of the Center of High Resolution, Professor Jan Neethling was held on 4 March 2016 in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, in the Centre for High Resolution Transmission Electron (CHRTEM).
FLNR JINR already has a long history of mutually beneficial cooperation with CHRTEM, based on the complementary capabilities of its instrumental base. Cooperation was supported by a joint research project in the frames of participation of the RSA in JINR and it has achieved notable results. So, for the period from 2011 to 2015, 16 peer-reviewed articles were co-published.
During the meeting a discussion of opportunities for NMMU students in the frames of the JINR educational programmes with NMMU Acting Director on Research Management Nolunkcwe Bomela was held in the frames of the Workshop.
This Workshop closed the working visit to the RSA of the JINR delegation consisting Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department Dmitry Kamanin, FLNR Scientific Secretary Alexander Karpov and Expert of the JINR University Centre Elena Karpova. This working visit was devoted to the implementation of the joint projects and the preparation of the RSA-JINR Forum dedicated to the 60th anniversary of JINR and 10th anniversary of cooperation, which will be held at the end of November 2016 in Pretoria. Vladimir Skuratov and Alexander Sokhatsky (FLNR) specially arrived to Port Elizabeth for conducting of research work on microscopes of the CHRTEM.
