In winter, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research leads a traditionally active sports life even despite the pandemic.

Thus, regular weightlifting competitions dedicated to the memory of A. M. Weinstein concluded the year 2020. The event took place on 26 December in the JINR Sports Club. From 4 to 6 January, the stadium “Nauka” hosted the open Christmas chess tournament in which 36 chess players took part. On 6 and 7 January, the traditional pair tennis tournament “Rozhdestvensky” was held.

At the moment, active work is underway at the stadium “Nauka” on filling the rink and hockey boxes. Unfortunately, the weather does not always contribute to it. Nevertheless, skis, skates, and hockey equipment can be rented at the stadium (daily from 11 AM to 7 PM, Monday is a day off). At the end of 2020, JINR efforts in the fields of the development of the sports culture were awarded several prizes by the Dubna City Administration.
