Culture, 23 December 2021
Laureates of international competitions Andrei Korobeinikov and Andrey Gugnin have performed the music by Scriabin. On 27 and 28 December, the programmes will be broadcast on the “Russia-Cultura” TV channel.
A special project “Scriabin. The Universe” dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of a pianist and a composer Alexander Scriabin starts on the “Russia-Cultura” TV channel.
Scriabin is not only a talented musician. As a philosopher, an experimenter, a thinker, he managed to go beyond music into the space of light and colour coming up with bright musical images and innovative ideas.
To pay tribute to the great Russian composer, his musical works have been performed in unusual places united by the idea of intellectual breakthroughs of mankind. The Synchrophasotron Hall in Dubna has become one of these places, the VDNH Space Pavilion has become the second one.
Soloists, laureates of international competitions Andrei Korobeinikov and Andrey Gugnin have performed piano works in the first two programmes. These programmes have been shot in the Synchrophasotron Hall of the JINR’s NICA accelerator complex in Dubna. It’s a place covered with legends and associated with the triumph of human thought and spirit.
27 December. Andrei Korobeinikov
Andrei Korobeinikov says, “I imagine the Synchrophasotron Hall as a temple of science. It has something festive, in tune with the music of Scriabin, especially his late musical works.”
Andrey Gugnin notes, “Many works by Skriabin expand the familiar world, give a chance to get off the ground. Thus, the choice of this shooting area seems to be a logical continuation of the great composer’s ideas.”
To fulfil the concept, the concert grand piano has been lifted to the upper platform by a special crane. The musicians have been performing Scriabin’s works under the stage light and many TV cameras as if they have been between heaven and earth.
The Russian National Orchestra will perform the central works of the composer in the other two programmes shot in the VDNH Space Pavilion.
From 27 to 30 December, at 10.15 PM, the “Russia-Cultura” TV channel will broadcast the programmes for the audience to listen to Scriabin’s music shot in such unusual places.
