On 19 October, an online work meeting took place of Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt in JINR Mahmoud Sakr with Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov and representatives of the Institute’s leadership. The discussion was about the upcoming November session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries and further steps to increase cooperation.

The participants of the event discussed preparations for the meeting of the Finance Committee and the session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States to be held in Egypt in November this year. It was noted that the main issues of the preparations were resolved. The events will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Hurghada. Last year, Egypt became a full-fledged JINR Member State. The country will be a host party in holding a visiting CP session for the first time.

The meeting participants also focused on practical issues of the Egypt’s participation in the activities of the Joint Institute and, above all, the formation of the National Group of Egyptian researchers at JINR. The parties discussed financial aspects and a plan of joint activities. In particular, it is expected that by the end of this year a delegation of authprities of Egyptian science and education will visit JINR.

One of the results of the meeting was an agreement to hold the Coordination Committee on the Egypt-JINR Cooperation in an updated format immediately after the CP meeting in Hurghada on 24 November.

On the Egyptian side, ASRT Vice-President Gina El-Feky, as well as Head of the Egyptian National Group, a senior researcher of the Laboratory of Neutron Physics JINR Wael Badawy participated in the discussion via videoconference. On the JINR side, JINR Chief Scientific Secretary Sergey Nedelko, Head of the International Cooperation Department Dmitry Kamanin, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department Anna Kotova, as well as Head of the Human Resources and Records Management Department Elena Kolganova gathered in the chess room.
