Leaders of FMBA visited JINR

On 15 February 2016, at the invitation of the JINR Directorate, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was visited by Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia V.V.Uyba and Head of the FMBA Healthcare Service L.S.Troyanova. The purpose of their visit was to get acquainted with activities of the Institute, to discuss issues of maintaining and development of the Medical Unit 9, as well as plans for development of proton therapy of cancer on the basis of the accumulated experience of the Institute.
The guests were welcomed at the JINR Directorate by JINR Director Academician V.A.Matveev, RAS Corresponding Members, JINR Vice-Director G.V.Trubnikov and JINR Chief Engineer G.D.Shirkov. A discussion of prospects for development of healthcare on JINR side of Dubna was also attended by Dubna City Mayor V.B.Mukhin, Head of the City Administration A.A.Usov, Deputy Head of the City Administration N.Yu.Madfes.
The guests accompanied by leaders of JINR visited the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics, where they were acquainted with progress in the development of the NICA project and research at the Nuclotron facility; they were also shown the technological site for mass production of superconducting magnets. In the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, the guests were acquainted with application of proton beams for cancer treatment, they also visited the Phasotron facility.
The FMBA leaders visited the Medical Unit 9 and met with the staff.
