JINR — integration platform for two Russian universities

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is deeply involved in educational activities and acts as a communication platform for universities in the country of JINR location, Russia. So, in June, the University “Dubna” and North Ossetian State University named after K. L. Khetagurov on the basis of which the JINR Information Centre operates, signed an agreement on interregional cooperation in the field of research and educational activities.
In the near future, temporary research teams will be assembled to conduct general research. Joint round tables and seminars will be organized as well.
Both universities will begin to develop joint environmental projects based on the domestic GIS software “INTEGRO” and will also begin to create innovative educational technologies for the training of young scientific staff.
In the frames of cooperation, the Department of Geoinformation Systems and Technologies of the Institute of System Analysis and Management of the University “Dubna” and the Department of Geography and Ecology of NOSU are already preparing an application for participation in the regional competition of the Russian Science Foundation. Two departments expect to receive a grant for the implementation of a research project to create a unified digital cartographic platform of the North Caucasian Federal District. The project aims to improve geoinformation system based on Russian software in the frames of the national projects “Ecology” and “Tourism and Hospitality Industry”.
The JINR Information Centre at NOSU has been operating since October 2018. IT schools and workshops have been repeatedly held on its basis. Students of South Russian universities have been sent to intern at JINR. The Centre often organizes educational activities, performing an integrating function with JINR for universities in the South of Russia.
