On 26–30 May 2016, Kiev hosted the JINR Days. On 26 May, with participation of L.Kostov, Chairman of the JINR Committee of Plenipotentiaries, the opening of the exhibition devoted to the 60th anniversary of JINR was held at the Faculty of Physics of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

In the evening of 26 May, the meeting of L.Kostov and M.V.Striha, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, took place. The parties exchanged their views on the cooperation of Ukrainian scientific organizations and JINR. The meeting was also attended by B.V.Grinev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of Ukraine to JINR and S.Z.Pakuliak, Director of the University Centre of JINR.

On 27 May, the JINR delegation visited the Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (INR NASU). V.I.Slisenko, Director of INR NASU, delivered a lecture on the fields of research conducted at the Institute and guided a tour of the research reactor WWR-M. During the visit the possibility of training nuclear energy and nuclear safety engineers and physicists from JINR Member States at the JINR University Centre was discussed.

The JINR Days in Kiev ended with a round table in the frames of the International Conference “Physics of Liquid Matter: Modern Problems”, where JINR Director V.A.Matveev made a report about the Institute. The round table also featured a presentation by L.A.Bulavin, Academician of NASU, devoted to the 50-year history of fruitful cooperation between the Faculty of Physics of the National University of Kyiv and the Joint Institute. B.V.Grinev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of Ukraine to JINR, reported on the current state of cooperation between scientific and educational institutions of Ukraine and JINR.

The JINR Days in Kiev were finished with the meeting of the Director of JINR with the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The meeting was attended by A.G.Naumovets, First Vice-President of the Academy; A.G.Zagorodny, Vice-President of the Academy; B.V.Grinev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of Ukraine to JINR; Academician V.G.Baríyakhtar; Presidium members and representatives of the Academy institutes. The parties exchanged views on maintaining and enhancing cooperation between Ukrainian academic institutions and JINR.
