Egypt – JINR Committee works on cooperation strategy

On 24 November, the 12th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee on the cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research cooperation was held on the sidelines of the session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries. It was the first in-person meeting of the Committee after Egypt became a full-fledged Member State at the CP JINR session in November 2021. Participants of the even summed up the results of the year.
The Committee was devoted to the questions of developing cooperation in the light of the new status of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Joint Institute. Co-chairs of the Committee session were JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and Plenipotentiary Representative of ARE in JINR Mahmoud Sakr.
Discussions focused on the task to format the strategy for the development of Egypt-JINR cooperation taking into account the JINR Long-Term Development Strategic Plan and the national strategy of Egypt in science and technologies. Professor Sakr noted the need to form both short-term and long-term vision of the cooperation and the crucial role of the Committee in this work. During the discussion of strategic tasks, the parties also paid their attention to the use of the ARE – JINR cooperation for developing cooperation in the field of fundamental research in the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) in general.
Participants discussed a set of activities for further improvement of the cooperation efficiency. The Committee focused special attention to the formation of the national group of Egyptian employees. Traditionally, decisions were made to hold a number of joint events for Egyptian youth to participate in educational programmes of the Institute, to expand the range of scientific communication. The Committee assigned a huge role in this issue to the JINR Information Centre in ASRT.
The Committee on Cooperation completed a series of events and meetings held in Egypt. Grigory Trubnikov, on behalf of the JINR delegation, warmly thanked the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology of Egypt for their hospitality and excellent organization of work.
