President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received JINR Director, Academician Victor Matveev, JINR Vice-Directors M.G. Itkis and R. Lednický, scientific leader of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions JINR, Academician Yu.Ts. Oganessian on 19 October 2016 in Yerevan.

Professor Mikhail Itkis commented on the milestones of the meeting with the President: “The conversation took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The President showed his awareness of the JINR activities, in particular, that the Institute implements large projects related to the establishment of the Superconducting Collider NICA and the factory of superheavy ions. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between scientists from the JINR Member States and of other countries, and he assured us that Armenia will continue to contribute to the development of the Institute, enhancement of scientific cooperation. We thanked Mr. President for the wonderful reception that was hold for our delegation during the JINR Days in Armenia. Academician Victor Matveev noted that in 2017 it will be 25 years since independent Armenia has become a JINR member state, while Armenian scientists has been working in Dubna since the foundation of the Institute. The meeting with the President which lasted 35 minutes left us very good impression”.
