The Dzhelepov Prize

The 99th anniversary of Venedikt Petrovich Dzhelepov will be celebrated on 12 April 2012. Venedikt Petrovich Dzhelepov was a unique person, an outstanding scientist and organizer of the Soviet and Russian science. The history of the JINR oldest laboratory, which was named after him, is connected with the name of V.P. Dzhelepov.

On the threshold of this date, 10 April 2012, a meeting of the jury of the Dzhelepov Prize contest was held. The Dzhelepov Prize was instituted at JINR two years ago. L.I. Ponomarev was the first award winner. According to the JINR decree, the Dzhelepov Prize is awarded for outstanding contribution to experimental and theoretical scientific research aimed to solve application tasks with nuclear physics methods.

After a discussion, the jury unanimously took a decision to award the Dzhelepov Prize to Oleg Vasilievich Savchenko. An official prize presentation will be held at the 112th session of the JINR Scientific Council.
